Carol-lynn Jackson
I have always loved textiles and creating. I am interested in the simplicity of using a needle, thread and a piece of fabric. I use cotton threads and cotton or linen fabrics. I have purchased new fabric but often I will cut up a second-hand tablecloth or some fabric remnant I have found. Occasionally I will experiment by adding watercolor paint or dyeing with tea or coffee. Recently I have discovered eco-dyeing with flowers from my garden.
I have also recently branched out into doing some painting. I don't know where this will lead but it's a nice diversion.
I love that I am using my hands and basic materials to create something that touches people. I believe my work is simple and honest. I feel I have the best success with a piece when I am speaking the truth of a personal emotion.
Much of my work speaks to themes of love, loss, memories and faith.
